Ingenuity Helicopter - Capable to fly in Mars atmosphere
The idea of building a Martian helicopter resurfaced about five years ago – and here it is Ingenuity is flying the Perseverance rover to the Red Planet. We’ll find out in a few months if it gets airborne there. It is scheduled to land on Mars on February 18, 2021. In flight, they are even more united. Ingenuity, together with the folded propellers and solar panels, is hidden in a container on the rover’s chassis. Big and heavy, Perseverance protects the tiny helicopter during space travel.
It is an absolutely independent unit from the rover. Their actions on Mars are not correlated, they do not complement each other. The helicopter is to demonstrate technological capabilities and that’s it. All it has to do is set up properly, recharge his batteries. Show that it can get up in the air and land.
The spacing of the propellers reaches 120 cm.
