Chernobyl Disaster – Accident in nuclear power plant – In 26.04.1986 accident occurred
in the nuclear power plant in Chernobyl, Ukraine. The cause was an explosion of hydrogen
in a nuclear reactor. Contaminated surface was 125-146 thousands km² of Ukraine, Belarus,
Russia, and the radioactive cloud was moving over Europe. Because of contamination
were evacuated and resettled more than 350 thousands people.
Suicides among people
Suicides among people – Least of suicides occur among people with higher education. Most are committed in the countries of northern and eastern Lithuania, Russia, Latvia, Estonia, Hungary, Denmark, Finland, Japan, Ukraine and Switzerland. Least of suicides recorded in the countries of southern and western – in Portugal, Spain, England, Greece, Georgia and Armenia.
Animals coming back – Chernobyl area results
Animals coming back – Recent count of wild animals in the Chernobyl area gave surprising results. Now living here more animals than before the disaster. Scientists do not claim that radioactivity affected animals positively. But stress that without the presence of a man who would not hunt on and violate their natural development, they live better. There are wolves, lynx, deer and foxes. One photo trap photographed even the brown bear (Ursus arctos). Which in this area has not been seen for nearly a century. On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster. The Ukrainian authorities have announced that they intend to create a contaminated area biosphere reserve. Its surface can reach 2270 thousand km².
